Some women have style. Others, beauty. Tracee Ellis Ross has both. It’s rare someone looks good in everything. Lucky for her, she’s tasteful enough to walk the tight rope of what’s fun, what’s cool, and what’s forever chic. With spring just weeks away, take a page out of Ross’ style book—she’ll tell you exactly what to wear (and how to wear it).
This week alone, she’s turned out look after look at fashion week. Huge circle sunglasses and an extra-long pony at Celine, a structured collar and nude lip at Ferragamo, and, a red lip and fringe skirt just in time for dinner. While there’s a method to her style—structured shoulders, oversized accessories, and almost always a good pair of heels—she also keeps us guessing.
Slept-in curls or a slick back updo? A nude lip or full-on red? A flowing dress or structured coat? She dances around them all and, sometimes, even wraps it all into one. Back in November, Ross attended the Being Eddie premiere laced up in a floor-sweeping Dior scarf, a pair of culottes, and a proper little bun. At a Maison Alaia dinner, a skin-tight donut collar and a pair of lipstick-matching velvet pink heels said enough.
Meanwhile, whenever she wears Marc Jacobs, you know it’s time to play. At his fall/winter 2025 show, she turned into a paper doll. Think: a starched big-buttoned yellow top, purple skirt and gnome shoes paired with her eyes completely encircled with liner. And, for the 2025 Met Gala, it was her bright red lip, Diana Ross lashes, top hat, and dramatic waist bow that stole the show.
Whether it’s unexpected (like her random blonde bob) or a simply chic salmon skirt suit, she’s our forever style—and beauty—inspiration.
Ahead, take inspiration from Tracee Ellis Ross the next time you don’t know what to wear this spring.
