April’s lineup on Netflix brings a strong mix of Black-led stories, blending classic titles with newer releases that span multiple genres. From crime dramas to comedies and thrillers, the month offers a range of films and series that spotlight some of the most recognizable names in entertainment.
The month opens with a familiar favorite in American Gangster, where Denzel Washington delivers a commanding performance as Frank Lucas, a drug kingpin navigating 1970s New York. On the lighter side, Chris Tucker’s Money Talks returns with its fast-paced humor, while The Wiz revisits a beloved musical featuring Diana Ross and Michael Jackson.
As the weeks unfold, action and suspense take center stage. Idris Elba leads Beast, placing a family in a life-or-death situation against a relentless predator. Later in the month, Him, produced by Jordan Peele, introduces a darker sports narrative as a rising athlete faces unexpected danger tied to a powerful figure. Kevin Hart also steps in with Funny AF, offering a platform for emerging comedians.
