More is more this spring. Excess is back. And not in the chaotic, throw-it-all-on-and-hope way. This isn’t maximalism for maximalism’s sake. It’s controlled abundance. Organized chaos. Choreography, if you will.
Layers that feel intentional, textures that collide on purpose, and personality that doesn’t apologize. Oh! And color is so back. Not timid pastels or polite neutrals, but saturated conviction. Clashing brights and confident combinations that feel true to you.
If last year was about restraint, this season is about permission. Permission to layer the necklace. Add the belt. Mix the stripe with the floral. Wear the red shoe with the pink skirt and not call it ironic.
But here’s the distinction: this isn’t about noise, but moreso, dimension.
There is indeed much studying to be done before you can truly understand where fashion is going this spring. You must come to terms with composition, proportion, and the beauty in tension. In other words, knowing when to pull back just enough to keep it from tipping into costume. In order to truly nail the look, there must be some method to your madness.
Which brings us to the evidence.

On the runways, designers leaned into excess with intention. Not maximalism in the baroque sense, but density. There were knits over slips, belts over outerwear, brooches on everything. Colors weren’t accents, they were arguments. We’re talking acid green under earth-toned tans.
The beauty is in letting the world in on your thought process instead of just the result. You can trace the logic from underlayer to overlayer. That’s where the intimacy of the pipeline comes in.
We’re living in a moment where the runway no longer feels distant. Between atelier diaries, backstage TikToks, fittings on Instagram Stories, and creative directors explaining their references in real time, the audience is closer to the process than ever. We’re not just consuming the final silhouette, we’re watching it form. We see the fabric swatches. The pinning. The first fitting. The edit.
And that proximity changes how we dress.
When you understand how a look is built, you start building your own. The runway becomes less spectacle and more blueprint. Putting a trend into motion suddenly becomes easier—more instinctual, less regurgitated from your algorithm—because you’ve studied the construction behind it.
In the looks ahead, pay attention to how volume is anchored, how texture builds depth, and how each layer earns its place.
